DS 7, Ferrari Purosangue, Nissan X-Trail, Toyota Prius and Volvo XC90

Shortage of materials of all kinds between the Covid crisis and the war in Ukraine, the new and second-hand market at half mast, fuel prices rising sharply, we cannot say that 2022 will be a great year for the automobile. . And yet, the novelties continued to follow one another, and not the least: Alfa Romeo Tonale, BMW X1, Mercedes GLC or even and above all Peugeot 408 and Renault Austral. The second semester will not be outdone. A brief overview of the most anticipated models at the end of 2022.

And we’re starting with a model we told you about just this morning, the large DS SUV, aka DS 7… « very short ». Yes, one of the main differences with the one it will replace is that it will lose its « Crossback » designation. In terms of style, it should be inspired by the all-new DS 4. The range of engines should not evolve excessively, but we note the introduction of a « sporty » version or, let’s say rather, more dynamic developing 360 hp. No need to wait long to find out, it will be presented next week.

2. Ferrari Purosangue

Of the novelties of the end of the year 2022, it will not be the most sold of all. And for good reason since we are talking about a Ferrari model. But since we are talking about the very first SUV of the Prancing Horse brand, it is as much to say that it is an important model. Like most sports brands that have adopted this body (Lamborghini Urus or Aston Martin DBX), the transalpine manufacturer should surely break sales records with this model. Under the hood, we will find a huge and anachronistic atmospheric V12 (yes, yes, it still exists!). The look has already leaked (see photo above): it will be more reminiscent of a raised hunting station than a real SUV. If it will be marketed in 2023, the teasing campaign has already been launched, a presentation is expected in the coming months.

3. Nissan X-Trail

The new X-Trail has already been presented in China. The European version should differ only in a few details. It will be presented this summer.

Of the novelties listed in this article, this is not the one that will surprise you the most. This is normal since you may have already come across the lines of the new Nissan X-Trail which was unveiled in 2020 in its American version called Rogue. Some time later even, we even discovered the Chinese variant which is aptly named X-Trail. Its more cubic shapes than the Qashqai (from which it derives and takes up the dashboard) will allow it to accommodate up to 7 passengers and more luggage in 5 places, like the one it replaces. The range of X-Trail engines should be modeled on that of its little brother with two micro-hybrid gasoline engines of 140 and 158 hp and the original e-Power proposal. Presentation this summer.

4. Toyota Prius

The next Toyota Prius has yet to be surprised on the road. Impossible to know for the moment if the next version will adopt more consensual lines than the much criticized fourth generation (here in photo).

A bit like the Ferrari Purosangue, but to a lesser extent all the same, the fifth Toyota Prius of the name will not be particularly widespread on the roads. Since Toyota has expanded its hybrid offer to more classic models (Yaris, Corolla, etc.), it has lost a lot of ground. Being a sedan is not an easy thing in these times when raised models abound on our roads. And the very (too?) original dress of the fourth version clearly didn’t help. In short, it is no longer a flagship model. However, it celebrates its 25th anniversary this year… and the « self-recharging » hybrid technology too since it was the one who inaugurated it, so it is indeed an important novelty. What do we know about the future Prius? Nothing, except that it will be presented in September, so the surprise will be total.

5.Volvo XC90

We have known for a year that the next version of the Volvo XC90 will be zero emissions. Logical when you know that the Swedish brand is already aiming for 50% of electric sales by 2025. It is quite simply one of the most committed in terms of electrification. In 2015, when the current generation was launched, the XC90 introduced a new style that we gradually found on all the models of the Nordic manufacturer, it will be the same for the next one which will be inspired by quite close to the Recharge concept (pictured above). Oh, and that will be the end of the XC90 name. Rumors refer to the name « Embla » instead. Confirmation at the very end of the year.
