DRC – Ligue 1: The Tout Puissant Mazembe lifts his 19th champion’s trophy
The Tout Puissant Mazembe officially received the DRC champion’s trophy this Tuesday, July 20. The Ravens lifted this 19th title during a grand ceremony held in Kamalondo.
The Tout Puissant Mazembe receives his 63rd trophy in all competitions. The title celebration got underway after a gala match against US Panda squad from Likasi. The League 1 champion beat the League 2 champion 1-0 thanks to new signing Mercey Ngimbi.
This 19th title, the TP Mazembe obtained it in pain after an incredible soap opera at the end of the championship. While his rival was celebrating the title, the Lubumbashi club took advantage of an administrative error by AS Vita to finish in the lead. Tout Puissant Mazembe finished with 69 points, ahead of AS Maniema Union 66 points and AS Vita Club 65 points.
The Tout Puissant Mazembe is record holder of titles and trophies in the DRC. It is ahead of Daring Club Motema Pembe which has 55 trophies, followed by AS Vita Club which has 27 trophies, FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo is 4th in the standings with 21 trophies.
