Don Waddell wants to be very active in the deal market in the coming weeks
[ad_1]
The Hurricanes are looking for answers right now after being eliminated in (just) four games by the Florida Panthers.
After all, there aren’t many people around the team who believed this scenario was possible… But hey.
That’s what it is, as the other would say.
The next few months will therefore be interesting on the organizational side because in Carolina, we are still looking to move “to the next level”. The Canes have appeared in two conference finals and have advanced to the second round twice in the past five years…
But it’s not enough. And Don Waddell, the team’s general manager, knows that very well. It is surely for this reason that the latter affirmed in an interview with Kurt Dusterberg, an NHL correspondent, that the team is to be expected to be « very, very active » in the transactions in the next week.
The ultimate goal? It would be to add talent to the attack in order to score even more goals, even if the team has excellent strike power at the offensive level.
If we can add some good pieces that could fit into our lineup, we will definitely do so. –Don Waddell
The Hurricanes could be active in trade market this offseason.

The words of the GM of the Hurricanes surprise me a little.
Because, in fact… The team was missing some interesting pieces during its playoff run. Let’s not forget that Max Pacioretty and Andrei Svechnikov were both forced to miss the spring tournament due to major injuries…
And let’s not rule out the fact that Teuvo Terevainen has only played six games in the playoffs, also hampered by a significant sore.
On paper, with those three guys in the lineup, the Hurricanes might be the best offensive team in the league. They have four good lines, they have star players in Sebastian Aho, Martin Necas, Svechnikov…
And it looks like I just don’t see the point of adding another big chunk on offense.
But as the script unfolds, I can’t stop thinking about Alex DeBrincat in Ottawa since he’s UFA this summer. The chances of him signing a new contract with the Sens seem to be slim at the time of this writing, if not very slim…
And if Pierre Dorion does not want to lose him for nothing before the opening of the free agent market, it might be in his interest to move quickly.
Brief.
All that to say that the Hurricanes will be one to watch in the coming weeks. Because, judging by Don Waddell’s comments, things could move pretty quickly.

A first contract in the NHL for Justin Robidas. His teammates and Patrick Roy happy for him.
I also spoke with his father, Stéphane, who was very proud of the way he managed an incredible last season.https://t.co/pw4KdwfkLehttps://t.co/0HqHb4bqZl
