In search of a new coach since the dismissal of the French technician, Corentin Martins, last October, Mauritania has chosen Didier Gomes Da Rosa. He succeeds his compatriot, according to an announcement made by the Mauritanian Football Federation on his page Facebook. He will make his debut at the head of Mourabitounes, during the next African Cup of Nations, scheduled for January 9 to February 6, 2022, in Cameroon.

Mauritania, emerging from a disastrous 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifying campaign (2 draws and 4 losses), has a new coach. This is Didier Gomes Da Rosa, who replaced his compatriot Corentin Martins, sacked last October. Current manager of the Tanzanian club Simba SC, Didier Gomes knows African football well. He has also coached Coton Sport de Garoua (Cameroon), Rayon Sports (Rwanda), Ethiopian Coffee (Ethiopia), Ismaily (Egypt), Al Merreikh (Sudan) and Horoya (Guinea).

Since the dismissal of Martins, the Mauritanian selection has been led by Gérard Busher, the National Technical Director (DTN). For his debut with a selection from the continent, Didier Gomes Da Rosa (52), will lead Mauritania to the next African Nations Cup, scheduled from January 9 to February 6, 2022 in Cameroon. The Mourabitounes are in group F along with Gambia, Tunisia and Mali.

A huge project awaits the new coach of the Mourabitounes, Didier Gomes Da Rosa. These include the reconstruction of Mauritanian football, by setting up a very good first team, which will represent the country with dignity in major continental meetings. For the moment, no information on the duration of Didier Gomes’ contract.
