D’Angelo Russell extends with the Lakers

by angelo russell

Without surprise, D’Angelo Russell re-sign with the Lakers but the most important thing was to know the duration and the amount. Finally, he accepts an offer of 37 million dollars over two years, with a « player option » in the second year, just to be able to test the market again in the summer of 2024.

Both sides therefore benefit from it, because Los Angeles retains its titular point guard at a rather favorable rate, while “D-Lo” gets a nice check and the possibility of staying with a title contender.

No doubt D’Angelo Russell was hoping for more a few months ago, but his disappointing playoffs coupled with market opportunities prevented him from claiming more. He will thus try to use the 2023/24 season to be a hit with the Lakers and then decline his « player option », so why not hit the jackpot in a year…
