Austin (United States) (AFP) – Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks largely won against Ja Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies (137-96) on Saturday in the NBA, while the Boston Celtics continue their momentum at the start of the season, with a third victory in as many matches , beating the Orlando Magic (120-126).

Western Conference finalists last season, the Mavericks relied on a fiery Doncic to win their first game this season. The Slovenian star scored 32 points, took 7 rebounds and offered 10 assists.

Freshly recruited from Houston, Christian Wood added 25 points and 12 rebounds to ensure the victory of the Mavericks against the too imprecise Grizzlies (9 of 33 at 3 pts), where Ja Morant was contained to 20 points.

For the Celtics, everything is going like clockwork. After a rather close match, the NBA finalists of last season ended up taking over the Magic, carried by an untenable Jayson Tatum, posting 40 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks on the clock.

The Celtics star becomes the first player in franchise history to score 100 points in the first three games of the season.

« We are not ready yet »

At the bottom of the standings, the Sixers chained their side a third defeat, losing to the San Antonio Spurs 114-105.

After losing to Boston and Milwaukee, Doc Rivers’ men could hope to revive against a rebuilding San Antonio franchise.

But, despite Joel Embiid’s 40 points and 13 rebounds, the Sixers suffered defensively, leaving six Spurs players to score 11 or more points.

« We’re not ready yet, » Rivers lamented. « Frankly, we’re just not ready. We’re not ready to win yet. You can feel it and so we have a lot of work to do. »

In Chicago, the Cleveland Cavaliers, particularly skilful behind the circle (16 out of 27) dominated the Bulls (128-96), thanks in particular to their rookie Donovan Mitchell (32 pts).

Finally, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 44 points and took 12 rebounds to allow the Bucks to win against the Houston Rockets (125-105).
