Czech Republic and Wales neutralize each other in 2022 World Cup qualifying

Behind Belgium (1st, 16 points), far ahead in the classification of this group E and exempt during this seventh day, Wales and the Czech Republic neutralized (2-2) this Friday evening, at the end of a lively and spectacular match, in the race to the dams.

The Welsh will however be the first to strike in Prague, despite the absence of their star Gareth Bale, victim of a hamstring tear. It was once again Aaron Ramsey who shone by opening the scoring, after a well-constructed counter-attack and a clever fake strike on Vaclick, before concluding with the flat of the right foot (36th) .

Ward’s huge blunder

But the Welsh will be surprised from the kick-off by Pesek, who takes advantage of a badly returned shot by Welsh goalkeeper Danny Ward to equalize (37th). And the goalkeeper is not at the end of his surprises, since upon return from the locker room, poor control on his part on a back pass will allow the Czechs to take the advantage (49th). Wales then pushed to equalize and will be rewarded with a goal from Daniel James (68th), after a bright opening from Wilson.

Nothing is done yet in this race to the dams. The two nations are neck and neck in this battle for second place, with the same number of points (8). But it is the Czech Republic which for the moment occupies the place of dolphin of the Red Devils, thanks to a better goal difference.

In the other meeting of the evening, Estonia beat Belarus at home (2-0), thanks to the achievements of Sorga (57th) and Zenjov (93rd). The next day of this group will take place on Monday with Estonia-Wales (8:45 p.m.) and Belarus-Czech Republic (8:45 p.m.).
