Curry scores 50 points but Golden State drinks the cup

Still at a standstill on the move this season, Golden State, outgoing champion, lost heavily Wednesday (130-119) against the unleashed Suns at three points. Stephen Curry, however, gave everything. The Warriors superstar also scored 50 points.

Stephen Curry was far too alone. Alone but on a cloud. Once again, the Golden State superstar made a splash on Wednesday night on the Phoenix floor. On the heels of his exceptional start to the season (he is at the top of practically all the individual rankings), the star point guard of the Warriors scored 50 points. Unfortunately for Curry and the defending champions, that didn’t stop the Warriors from losing on the road yet again. Golden State even received a small correction (130-119) in Phoenix, where Devin Booker (27 points, 9 assists) and his family came close to indecency at long distance throughout the evening. Unleashed behind the line, the men of Arizona have almost everything returned from afar on Wednesday (21 out of 40, 53% success, record for them this season). David Lee, coming off the bench, was the only one to achieve a « perfect » (3 out of 3), but Cam Payne (6 out of 10) and Mikal Bridges (5 out of 8) also did very badly in the field at this Golden State team which had not lost eight straight games away from their bases without winning a single one (0-8 since the start of the season) since 1989.

Golden State still hasn’t won on the road

A rather incredible statistic for a franchise that was precisely one of the best on the move since the arrival of Steve Kerr at the helm of the team. With Orlando, Detroit and the Lakers, Golden State is also on the shortlist of the four bad students to have still not won this year in the NBA. Curry has nothing to do with it. The « Angel-faced Assassin » is probably making one of his best starts to the season since he set foot in the League. Because in addition to his 50 points (17 in the first quarter, 31 at the break and 40 before starting the last period, 17 out of 28 on shots, 7 out of 11 from three points), the double MVP and MVP of last finals took 9 rebounds and issued 6 assists. Thanks to its 6 victories at home, Golden State limits the damage to a 12th place in the West certainly very far from the ambitions of the outgoing winners. So imagine if, on top of that, Curry wasn’t in the shape of his life.
