Conte’s strange method of reprimanding his players

After their victory over Leeds and Manchester City, Tottenham was surprisingly eliminated against Middlesbrough (0-1 ap) in the FA Cup. An oscillation of the results which motivated a curious analogy from Antonio Conte.

“My former coaches in Italy taught me that sometimes the coach has to use a carrot, sometimes a stick. And it is the latter that I will have to use. After the game with Burnley [0-1]I used a stick and we won, after the game with Leeds [4-0] it was the carrot and we lost. I need to be clearer in the instructions,” Conte explained.
