Columbus Blue Jackets to start recall for goalkeeper Daniil Tarasov

A crazy story that comes out of Columbus Thursday afternoon.

The team will be without its two regular goalkeepers, Elvis Merzlikins and Joonas Korpisalo, as they face the Stars due to illnesses unrelated to COVID.

And now all signs are that they are starting Daniil Tarasov, who the team have recalled from the AHL.

Tarasov, 22, would make his NHL debut under the most unusual circumstances. He has played 15 AHL games in the past two seasons, posting a 9-4-3 record, 0.896 save percentage and 3.04 goals-against average.

According to athleticism Aaron Portzline, Tarasov is expected to land in Dallas around 2 p.m. CST ahead of their 5:30 p.m. CST.
