Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog out indefinitely after knee surgery

The Colorado Avalanche suffered a major blow to their roster.

Forward Gabriel Landeskog has undergone knee surgery and is out indefinitely. Athleticism Peter Baugh reported on Saturday. The injury is described as a ‘throbbing wound’ and the club will be hoping he can return for the stretch run.

Avs head coach Jared Bednar also announced that defender Samuel Girard is out for four weeks with a lower-body injury.

Both injuries are undoubtedly a blow for one of the best teams in the league. Landeskog is in the midst of his most productive NHL career with 30 goals and 59 points in 51 games. His goals per game (0.59) and points per game (1.16) are both career highs.

Girard, meanwhile, is also having a solid season for the Avalanche. In 56 games, he scored five goals and 27 points.

The Avalanche have 22 games left in their regular season schedule.
