Clashes to watch: November 24

Fourteen games are scheduled for the regular NHL schedule for Wednesday, November 24. Here are the elements of these matches that will hold our attention.

Return to Columbus for Dubois

Pierre-Luc Dubois will face the Columbus Blue Jackets (10-6-0) for the first time since the forward was traded to the Winnipeg Jets (9-5-4) for the forward Patrik Laine on Jan. 23 as the Jets visit the Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena (7 p.m. ET; SNW, BSOH, ESPN +, NHL LIVE).

Dubois got into trouble last season when he arrived in Winnipeg, amassing just 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 41 games. This season, however, he is tied with Andrew Copp second in Jets scoring with 16 points (10 goals, six assists) in 18 games. Dubois’ three power-play goals are a Jets-high, tied with defenseman Josh Morrisey.

It remains to be seen what kind of reception Dubois will receive, he who had asked to be traded after four seasons at Columbus. Laine will be sidelined for an eighth straight game with an oblique injury sustained on November 3. – Adam Kimelman, NHL.com Deputy Editorial Director

The Penguins and Guentzel on a roll

The Pittsburgh Penguins (8-6-4) will try to sign a fourth straight victory and the forward Jake guentzel will be looking to score in a sixth straight game as they host the Vancouver Canucks at PPG Paints Arena (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, SNP, ATTSN-PT, NHL LIVE).

Pittsburgh has had an 11-1 advantage in the goals column since the start of their winning streak, thanks to back-to-back shutouts from Tristan Jarry away against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The Jets ended the 161: 31 streak without allowing Jarry a goal on Monday, but the Penguins still won 3-1.

Guentzel has seven points (five goals, two assists) since starting a six-game streak with at least one point.

A streak to extend for Kadri

The attacker Nazem kadri is on fire for the Avalanche and he’ll look to get a point in a 10th straight game as Colorado host the Anaheim Ducks (9 p.m. ET; ALT, BSSC, BSSD, ESPN +, NHL LIVE ).

Kadri has 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in the last nine games and he leads the Avalanche with 23 points (six goals, 17 assists) in 15 games this season. The harvest places him fourth in the entire NHL, behind forwards Edmonton Oilers Leon draisaitl (35 points) and Connor mcdavid (32) as well as the captain of the Washington Capitals Alex ovechkin (30).

Colorado (9-5-1) have won their last five games and outscored their opponents 31-13 in that streak. The Avalanche are number one in the NHL with an average of 4.00 goals scored per game.

After having signed eight straight wins, the Ducks (10-6-3) suffered the loss by a one-goal gap in their last two meetings. – Tim Campbell, NHL.com reporter
