Claiming his first F1 win in Spain would be ‘unique’ for Sainz

Carlos Sainz begins to dream of a first victory in Formula 1 this year with Ferrari on his land in front of his home crowd for the Spanish Grand Prix (May 20-22).

“For this, I work every day, I try to get there as quickly as possible. The fans want it, but the one who wants it the most is me. »

The Spanish driver will race next weekend in front of packed grandstands (all tickets have been sold out and the organizers had to « push the walls » to be able to accommodate even more people due to demand): “They have to support me as much as they can, because every little thing they do is noticeable from the car. » he insisted.

“At home, I’ve always done my best races and I’ve always scored points when I had a car to do so. This year, we have a car for a podium, and we will try to win. »

“I remember going to the Spanish Grand Prix in 2005 and 2006 with full stands when Fernando [Alonso] won races. In 2010 and 2013 it was crowded again, and since then we haven’t seen anything like it. The Parade of Pilots [le dimanche] will undoubtedly be one of the best moments of the Grand Prix. »
