Chelsea put on a show then control against Bournemouth
For their return to the Premier League, Chelsea won 2-0 against Bournemouth.
An almost perfect back-to-school copy. For the first post-World Cup match, and while Chelsea remained on three losses in a row, the London club easily won 2-0 at home, against Bournemouth.
What a display in the first half! We had left the Blues uninspired or almost and neutral in the offensive sector. The truce did them good and it showed. Chelsea entered this meeting very well and could even have taken advantage of a penalty after 12 minutes. But they didn’t need it. A few moments later it was Kai Havertz, tremendously well served by Raheem Sterling in one touch, who pushed the ball into the back of the net (16′).
The blue waves continued to follow one another on the goals of Travers, the goalkeeper of the Cherries. Ten minutes later, it was Mason Mount who saw his superb curling shot with his right foot end up in the side netting (24′). The gap was made. And this gap could have widened without a very good Travers author of several saves (44′, 45+3′) which came to cut off the excellent combinations between Mount, Sterling and Havertz.

A spoiled evening
Unfortunately for the Blues, the return will not be perfect. Fans in the stands at Stamford Bridge were all very happy to see Reece James back on the pitch. The English international who had to give up the World Cup because of an injury found a starting place. But what a sad image we saw in the 53rd minute when he left the lawn in tears… The right defender seems to have regrets.
Graham Potter will certainly be a little disappointed with the last half hour of his players who have gradually lost ground in Bournemouth. The Cherries nevertheless proved to be too little dangerous to return to this meeting despite a better end to the game. The most important thing is there for Chelsea and they will certainly be satisfied with it.
