Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor officially leave Audi Sport

They have both reigned over the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint for three years with three crowns. Unsurprisingly, Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor are leaving Audi Sport after a very fine and fruitful collaboration. The shock tandem of the Audi R8 LMS GT3/WRT #32 has won a lot of success in GT World Challenge Europe.

Dries Vanthoor is one of the benchmarks in GT in the world. At 24, the Belgian has accumulated successes with the German brand all over the world. As comfortable in a GT as in a prototype, Dries Vanthoor belongs to the caliber of drivers who never give up, whether the race is won or not. Dries Vanthoor’s last race in an Audi was therefore the FIA Motorsport Games where he won the bronze medal for Belgium.

Three years younger than his compatriot, Charles Weerts quickly found in Dries Vanthoor a teammate, a leader and a friend. After Formula 4, the Belgian bounced back in the best possible way in GT3 in the Audi camp, also at WRT.

The two are expected to ride together again next season. If their new employer has not been announced, there is no doubt that it will be BMW, still at WRT.

After René Rast and Nico Müller, Audi Sport loses two other talented drivers.
