CHAN 2023: CAF unveils the list of qualified selections

As the 7th edition of the African Nations Championship for Homegrown Players, CHAN 2023 approaches, the African Football Confederation has announced the final list of 18 teams that will take part in the continental event hosted in Algeria.

Thus, CAF has unveiled the identities of the local African selections which will animate the competition planned in Algerian lands from January 08 to 31, 2023.

At the end of the last day of the eliminatory rounds disputed according to the zones of the African continent (which are 6 in number) 18 teams have granted themselves the qualifying places for this African Cup of local players.

For its part, the African football confederation, CAF, has announced that the CHAN 2023 draw will take place on October 01 in Algeria.

CHAN 2023, preparations continue

Algeria will host the African Nations Championship for the first time since the launch of this competition in 2009. After a first edition which saw the participation of 8 teams from the continent, the format of the competition has evolved over the editions .

Thus, for the 2023 edition organized in Algeria, 18 local African football teams will be in the spotlight. For this 7th edition of the CHAN, Algeria will dedicate 5 stadiums to host the events of the competition.

Indeed, the Algerian Ministry of Youth and Sports mobilized the stadiums of the city of Annaba, the stadium of the city of Constantine, the Olympic stadium of July 5, 1962 in Algiers, the new Baraki stadium and the Olympic stadium of Oran, to host the meetings of the 2023 African Nations Championship.

In this sense, the Minister of Sports, Abderrazak Sebgag, continues the inspection visits in order to ensure the smooth running of the renovation works of the stadiums which will host the African competition.

During the last ministerial visit, Sebgag was optimistic about meeting deadlines for the completion of the renovated stadiums.

The Algerian minister also affirmed that the standards of the international football federation, FIFA, and the African football confederation, CAF, are respected and that all the stadiums planned to host the matches comply with the requirements of the two bodies of football.
