Cédric Paquette soon on waivers
Limited to only 24 games this season, forward Cédric Paquette will be waived this Saturday.
This was reported by TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie shortly after the Montreal Canadiens’ morning practice for the evening game against the Seattle Kraken.
Paquette was not morning exercise with his teammates. The return to play of defender Joel Edmundson would explain the Habs’ need to free up a place in its formation.
The Gaspésien has not been in uniform since January 29. He injured his neck after a check from Sam Bennett on January 1.
He had also been suspended for two games in November following a gesture against Trevor Zegras of the Anaheim Ducks.
Hired last summer for a year at $950,000, Paquette recorded two assists and 25 penalty minutes in a Canadiens uniform.
The 28-year-old won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020.
