Sunday mornings are days out for the Vélo-club Castelnaudary.
Sunday morning is the day out for the « Castelnaudary sports bike ». Sunday July 3, as many clubs affiliated with the French Cycling Federation do, it was the turn of the Chaurien club to organize its « first hike around Castelnaudary ». Three circuits were proposed, 50, 75 and 100km to be covered alone or in a group, whether you have a license or not – the event is open to all. Everyone chooses their pace, in the spirit of a ballad or a stopwatch where the athletes measure themselves against each other.
This is a circuit that allows you to appreciate the landscapes and the unevenness of the Lauragais audois. After a welcome coffee offered under Les Halles de Verdun in the city center, head for the slopes of Payras-sur-l’Hers, followed by a tour of the Ganguise. Once the Canal du Midi has been crossed, a copious supply awaits the athletes at the top of Montferrand. A foray into the foothills of the Black Mountain was missing before returning to Castelnaudary, where a saving aperitif awaited cyclists whose bodies were beginning to be stressed by the heat.
More than 50 participants this year were satisfied with the course and the organization, it is a success to be repeated next year.
