Canadiens: Three-year contract for Primeau

Cayden Primeau signed a three-year contract worth $2.67 million with the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. The deal will earn him an average of $890,000 per season.

The 23-year-old goaltender was a restricted free agent. He was 1-7-1 with a 4.62 goals-against average and .868 save percentage in 12 games (nine starts) with Montreal last season.

« It’s everyone’s goal to be number one at the highest level, » Primeau said. The goal remains the same for me. I want to play at the highest level and be the right man. I’m going to take it day by day and it’s exciting to have three years to try to do that. »
