Cameroon: The new members of the Transitional Professional Football Council installed

The President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) installed the members of the Transitional Professional Football Council (CTFP) this Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Pierre Boudjiko Youkeka (president), André Noel Essian (1st vice-president), Charles Mbella Moki (2nd vice-president), Faustin Blaise Mbida Mbida (general secretary), André Marie Kuatche, Abdoul Karimou, Jean Paul Akono, Félix Elouga and Ms. Marthe Mouaha (members) are now in office. They were installed in their respective positions by the president of FECAFOOT. This replaces the old team, which managed the championships (Elite One and Elite Two) last season.

After congratulating the outgoing members of the CTFP, Samuel Eto’o recommended that their successors « do everything possible to organize the best championship in Africa ». “We have no room for error,” insisted the former FC Barcelona striker, trained by the Kadji Sports Academy. In reaction Boudjiko, the incoming president, promised to live up to the trust placed in his team. Everything we can check from October 15, the launch date of the Elite One.

Semengue knocked out

Created on January 20, during an emergency committee of the Federation, the CTFP is « responsible for the restructuring and management of professional football », pending the restoration of its functions of the Professional Football League of Cameroon. (LFPC). To ease tensions between FECAFOOT and LFPC, Eto’o appointed as president of the CTFP, Pierre Semengue, the president of the now defunct LFPC. The latter agreed to occupy this post and to organize the championships.

Unfortunately, the relationship between the two men deteriorated during the 2021/2022 season, especially because Semengue unsuccessfully tried to sack the CTFP general secretary appointed by Eto’o. To avoid further dissension between the two parties, during the next financial year, the four-time African Player of the Year appointed, on August 30, a new team at the head of the Council, a team in which Semengue does not appear.

The icing on the cake, the general assembly of FECAFOOT validated, on August 27, the dissolution of the LFPC, definitively putting its president out of the game. A decision that the retired general describes as “yet another attempt at serious violation of the texts by FECAFOOT”. He promises to take legal action once again to challenge this decision, as he had already done the day after the suspension of the LFPC, on August 22, 2019, by the same Federation, at the time of President Seydou Mbombo Njoya. . It should be recalled that on September 14, 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had ruled this suspension illegal.
