To justify its decision on the closed session of the Cameroon-Malawi meeting of September 3, 2021, the CAF openly maintains that the Cameroonian authorities have truncated the truth on the construction site of the Olembé sports complex.

In a correspondence signed by its Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba and addressed to the President of the Fecafoot, the CAF clearly writes that the information provided on the progress of the works of the Olembé stadium has been truncated by the Cameroonian authorities.

« The authorization to play the match in question at the Olembé stadium was given on the basis of truncated information which did not reflect the fact that the stadium in question is still at this point under construction.  » an international match counting for the eliminatory of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is in principle not possible « , writes the general secretary of the CAF.

The umbrella body of African football therefore decided to go in camera with 50 spectators in the VIP area.

For his part, the Cameroonian Minister of Sports and Physical Education (Minsep) and the Fecafoot had mentioned the application of the COVID-19 protocol for FIFA matches.

Jointly, the Cameroonian authorities and the CAF had decided not to allow the presence of the media and the public for this meeting in application of the COVID-19 protocol in a country where the Covid more business than real has really not done ravages.
