This Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Cairo, Egypt, CAF drew lots for the preliminary rounds of the African Champions League. A total of 32 matches will be played, including 16 in the first round and also 16 in the second round.

After the 2021-2022 edition, the CAF Champions League is about to resume. On behalf of the 2022-2023 season, the governing body of African football today drew lots for the preliminary rounds. A total of 52 clubs will participate in the first round and six will compete from the second round. The 6 clubs exempted from the first round are: TP Mazembe (DRC), Al Ahly (Egypt), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) and Espérance de Tunis ( Tunisia).

It should be noted that the outward phase of the first round is scheduled for September 9-11 and the return phase between September 16-18. Then, the second preliminary round will be held from October 7 to 9 (go) and from October 14 to 16 (return).
