For two inspection failures William Byron and Martin Truex Jr are relegated to the back of the pack in Las Vegas in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The inspection leading up to the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway wreaked havoc on the title contenders, as two of them will start from behind the field for a double check, William Byron and Martin Truex Jr.

Initially qualified on the second row of the starting grid, William Byron and Martin Truex Jr. will therefore find themselves at the back of the grid. At the start of the second round of the playoffs, the Round of 12, Martin Truex Jr. occupies the second position, with 16 points ahead of Joey Logano, ninth. As for William Byron, he is in eighth place with one point behind the Team Penske driver.

Aric Almirola and JJ Yeley will join William Byron and Martin Truex Jr. at the back of the pack for the same reasons. As far as JJ Yeley is concerned, the No. 66 Toyota even failed the inspection for a third time, resulting in the car manager, Ty Brazeal, being excluded from the race. In addition, JJ Yeley will have to make a pit lane passage after waving the green flag, as a penalty. The car finally passed the inspection on the fourth attempt.

Aric Almirola had to start from seventeenth place on the grid while JJ Yeley qualified in thirty-eighth and final position of these South Point 400s.

Ranking leader Kyle Larson will lead the field to the green flag with Ryan Blaney by his side. Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin will therefore find themselves in the second row.
