Goalkeeper Sebastian Breza will once again wear the CF Montreal uniform during the 2022 campaign.
Sunday, in a statement, the club specified that it obtained the services of the Quebecer via a loan from Bologna FC 1909. A purchase option is also a possibility.
« We are happy to see Sebastian again for the next season, » said CF Montreal sports director Olivier Renard in his organization’s letter.
“Following the last season where we were happy with his progress, we wanted him to continue with us. We had not exercised his option, but we remained in contact with Bologna on this file and his return is taking shape today. ”
On loan to the Belle Province team in 2021, Breza has played eight games in Major League Soccer (MLS). He had two shutouts there and maintained a record of three wins, as many losses and two draws.
Breza was also one of the main reasons why CF Montreal won the Canadian Championship, as he ended the competition with a 3-0-0 record, including two shutouts and a 0.33 goals-against average. He was also named the tournament MVP.
The 23-year-old goalie left the Sainte-Julie Soccer Club at the age of 16 to join the SS Monopoli 1966, in Italy. Loaned to Palermo FC in 2016, he notably played 54 matches in the Italian third division with Potenza SC, before joining Bologna FC 1909 on August 29, 2020. On the international scene, he was also selected with the U20 teams, U21 and U23 from Canada.
