Brendan Rodgers would cost too much to sack for Leicester

With Leicester City making their worst start to a season in the English top flight since 1983, Brendan Rodgers is under pressure. But dismissing his manager would cost the Foxes far too much.

Brendan Rodgers is under pressure at Leicester City after a very poor start to the season. But the Northern Irish technician is somehow « protected » by his current contract which he extended a few months ago. This means that in the event of dismissal by the Foxes, the latter could be forced to pay him compensation approaching 10 million euros according to information from the Daily Mail.

Brendan Rodgers under contract until 2025

An amount that the Premier League club, already in financial difficulty, cannot afford to pay despite the 90 million euros collected for the transfer of Wesley Fofana to Chelsea. Brendan Rodgers has recently signed a new contract which has made him one of the highest paid managers in the Premier League. This contract runs until June 2025.

Few reinforcements during the summer

To justify this bad start (5 consecutive defeats in 6 Premier League days), Brendan Rodgers criticized his leaders for the lack of activity in the 2022 summer transfer window with the only recruit, Rémois Wout Faes for 15 million pounds sterling. While waiting for better days, the Leicester manager is hunkering down: “I will continue to do my job and come to study and do whatever I can. I have never refused to work. I have always come early and finished late at night and until someone tells me otherwise I will continue to do so” did he declare.
