Boston Bruins put head coach Bruce Cassidy on COVID protocols

The Boston Bruins put head coach Bruce Cassidy on COVID-19 protocols Tuesday morning, the club said.

Cassidy, 56, is now in her sixth season behind the bench with the Bruins and the team is 11-7 this season in 18 games. The team is currently ranked fifth in the Atlantic Division.

To return, Cassidy will need to produce two negative tests 24 hours apart in order to be removed from protocols, which means he will be out of roster for at least tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Bruins’ AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, are currently grappling with a COVID-19 outbreak of their own. NHL.com reported Mark Divver reported on Tuesday that he was « hearing double-digit business » for the club.
