Boosted, Kareem breaks LeBron again!
LeBron James may be a central figure in the fight for civil rights, but he takes a slightly different position on the coronavirus. And that does not please Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at all… Already very virulent towards the Laker recently, the former player dismantled him again following his last outing.
While he remains far from being as categorical on the issue of the vaccine as Kyrie Irving, we cannot say that Lebron james is one of the most fervent supporters of health measures in the face of the coronavirus. Specifically, he’s not very keen on telling people what to do, as he explained a short while ago on Media Day. In his eyes, the physical well-being of citizens is beyond his reach:
We are talking about the body of individuals. We are not talking about anything political, racism or police brutality, things of that nature. We are talking about the body and the well-being of people. So I don’t feel, for me personally, that I have to get involved in what others are doing for their bodies and their livelihoods.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar reframes LeBron on anti-Covid vaccination
If his words were very well received by … political members of the far right, others have been very appreciative of the exit of the quadruple champion. Among his critiques, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had already been very virulent towards the King, recently. The Hall of Famer has therefore decided to add a layer, following its last statement:
I am a huge fan of LeBron James, both as one of the greatest basketball players of all time and as a humanitarian who cares about social injustice. I admire him and have affection for him. But this time, LeBron is simply wrong – and his mistake could be fatal, especially for the black community.
KAJ is not going round the clock, the winger has to change his mindset and do his duty, as a league superstar. As the former kingpin explains, LeBron now has such a status in society that his voice counts as much as those of some politicians. He cannot therefore sit there with his arms folded and do nothing while people succumb to the coronavirus on a daily basis:
When the city leaders joined them, it encouraged others to do their duty. Celebrities and athletes today have a status similar to that of city leaders. Either you join the line to save your neighbor’s house, or you just stand there and let it burn because you don’t owe them anything.
Always so cash on social issues, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will continue to tackle LeBron until he stops sticking to his positions. We hope for the Chosen One that this will change quickly!
