Franco-Ontarian Bob Hartley is one of three contenders for the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Head Coach of the Year award, the Russian circuit revealed on Wednesday.
Its competitors are Andrei Razin (Severstal) and Igor Nikitin (CSKA Moscow).
In his third season at the helm of his team, Hartley led the Omsk Avangard to the Gagarin Cup in 2020-2021. During the regular season, the club finished atop the Chernyshev section with a good 36-12-12 record for 84 points.
The former National League driver led Latvia’s roster for the World Championship in Riga. The host nation of the competition was unable to advance to the quarter-finals, finishing sixth in Group B.
