Bob Bradley leaves Los Angeles
Los Angeles FC and their head coach Bob Bradley mutually agreed to go their separate ways after four seasons on Thursday. Its name is already associated with Toronto FC, which seems like a logical destination.
The 63-year-old’s contract was due to expire during the upcoming offseason and the two sides simply decided not to extend their union.
Bradley became the Californian club’s very first coach when it entered Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2018. In the last campaign, he helped his team achieve 45 points in 34 games, which Ranked ninth in the Western Conference. This is the first time that the LAFC has missed the playoffs.
“Bob has been fantastic as the club’s first and only coach,” said Co-Chairman and General Manager John Thorrington in a statement. He brought great « leadership » and was an excellent ambassador for LAFC. Bob has helped us develop a winning culture, in addition to leaving a legacy that will be part of our history forever. ”
During his four-season stint with the LAFC, Bradley was 58-34-32 for a total of 206 points. He also had his best season in 2019, when the California team won the “Supporter’s Shield”, awarded to the best team in the regular season in MLS. She had scored 85 goals, a record for a single campaign, in addition to amassing 72 points, another record at the time, but beaten this season by the 73 points of the New England Revolution.
“It’s amazing to have been a part of the young history of LAFC,” said Bradley. From the start, there was a real commitment to establish a link with the city and the supporters to share beautiful moments. ”
A father-son reunion
News of Bradley’s divorce from LAFC had barely fallen when the rumor machine started to go full blast.
Thus, the name of the trainer has already been associated with the « Reds ». The Ontario squad sacked head coach Chris Armas at the start of the 2021 campaign, before appointing his assistant, Javier Perez, as interim head coach. The latter, however, saw the mention « by interim » be withdrawn in August, but he still finds himself without a contract at the end of the season.
In addition, Bradley’s name is familiar to those around TFC, as his son, Michael, is the captain of the organization.
The name of the coach with the third most wins (182) in MLS history is thus associated with CF Montreal rivals, but nothing has been formalized or announced.
