BMW will contest the IMSA Championship in the new GTP category from next year, with a Hypercar named BMW M Hybrid V8. The colors of the German car were unveiled Thursday evening at an event in Los Angeles. There are white, blue, red and purple mainly for a very colorful livery, unlike the sobriety of the Peugeot 9X8. At the front, the grille is quite specific to current production BMWs with two large nostrils, and the M and BMW logos are visible on the body.
Concerning the titular drivers, they are Connor de Phillippi, Nick Yellolly, Philipp Eng and Augusto Farfus. The first two will be on n°24, the other two on n°25. Their first race will be the 24 Hours of Daytona, January 28-29. On this occasion, they will be joined by Colton Herta, Indycar driver whose arrival in F1 has been mentioned in recent weeks. The American will ride for Team RLL. BMW is due to join the WEC in 2024 with the support of Belgian team WRT.
