Tarasenko hurt his right hand when he blocked a shot by Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba in the first period of a 5-2 loss on December 31, and Krug was injured blocking a shot from William Karlsson in the last minute of overtime in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on December 23.

« Obviously Krug and Tarasenko are good players for us, » coach Craig Berube said Tuesday. « They’ve been away for a while. It’s a good thing to find them. Both bring different aspects: Offensively, they’re good on the power play, they score goals, they move the puck well… Things like that. They are good players for us. »

The names of the forward and defenseman were removed from the injured list on Tuesday after they skated on a regular defensive pair and line, in addition to practicing on the first unit of the power play on Monday.

Tarasenko, who missed 10 games, completed a line with Brayden Schenn and Ivan Barbashev. Krug, who missed 13 games, was paired with Tyler Tucker.

» I feel good. Obviously, I’m comfortable enough to return to training, said Krug. I am ready to play. I try to bring a little more to our training and to contribute. »

the attacker Pavel Buchnevich did not practice on Monday, and his name was placed on the injured list on Tuesday. He had to undergo minor surgery to treat an ankle infection related to a contusion suffered earlier in the season. It will be reassessed after the All-Star Game break on February 3 and 4.

Buchnevich has 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists) in 38 games this season.

« It’s bad luck for him and us, » Berube said. He is a complete player. We use it in all situations. He is a very good defensive player, he passes penalties, but he is also an offensive player. We will miss him. »
