Betis Sevilla win against Girona and remain third in La Liga

The pressure was put on by Athletic Bilbao on Saturday against Rayo Vallecano (3-2). And Betis Sevilla reacted well to it on Sunday on behalf of the 6th day of the Championship by overcoming Girona (2-1). The visitors had however taken the advantage by Arnau Martinez, who adjusted Rui Silva following a superb opening from Miguel Gutierrez (7th, 0-1).

But the Andalusians finally won thanks to their striker Borja Iglesias. The Spaniard first converted a penalty (15th, 1-1), before again deceiving the vigilance of Martin Juan Carlos at the end of the match (71st, 2-1). Despite two big chances (52nd, 54th), including a post, Girona was unable to regain the advantage. This victory allows Betis Sevilla to settle on the podium and thus pass Athletic Bilbao in the standings.
