Benjamin Pedersen to make his AJ Foyt Racing debut –

The modest AJ Foyt Racing team has become a talent scout in IndyCar. After allowing Indy Lights 2021 champion Kyle Kirkwood to discover the pinnacle of the US single-seater scene in 2022, the training led by Larry Foyt has set its sights on another hope, Benjamin Pedersen.

The 23-year-old American-Danish has spent two seasons in the IndyCar access formula this season, with results that are limited to a single success (Portland) and a fifth place finish out of 11 drivers entered in full-time.

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Benjamin Pedersen grew up in Seattle, Washington and currently lives in Indianapolis. “I’ve spent a lot of time this season with AJ Foyt Racing learning the ins and outs of moving into IndyCar and it was really good to do it alongside my Indy Lights season. IndyCar has been my goal since I started my single-seater career in 2016.”

According to Larry Foyt, replacing Kyle Kirkwood, who left for Andretti, with Benjamin Pedersen via a multi-year contract, is a godsend. “His enthusiasm is contagious, and he is 100% committed. It’s great to have him in the team this season, and everyone is eager to get to work as soon as testing begins. It’s also great to have a multi-year program in place, which will help him and the team grow together. »

Benjamin Pedersen once drove an IndyCar Dallara; it was at Sebring with the Juncos Hollinger Racing team.
