Barça would consider the belly of Memphis Depay this summer to finance the arrival of the Erling Haaland phenomenon.
Barring an unexpected turnaround, Ousmane Dembélé will leave this summer at the end of his contract. But the Frenchman shouldn’t be the only striker to pack his bags. With the arrivals of Ferran Torres, Adama Traoré and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the last transfer window, Xavi has the embarrassment of choice on the offensive level. The Catalan technician can also count on Ansu Fati (currently injured) Ousmane Dembélé, Memphis Depay, Martin Braithwaite, Luuk de Jong and a host of little prodigies from La Masia.
But in its edition of the day, the Catalan daily Sport ensures that at least three players from this list will be sold in the coming months. Unsurprisingly, Barca are reportedly looking to get rid of Martin Braithwaite and Luuk de Jong. Players who will not have cost much, but who no longer fit into the plans of the new coach. More surprising, Sport believes Barca will also open the door for Memphis Depay. Arrived free from Olympique Lyonnais, the Dutchman nevertheless shone at the start of the season. Currently injured, he could however be « sacrificed » to bail out the club’s coffers and free up payroll. The departure of the 27-year-old striker, valued at 45 million euros, would notably facilitate the Erling Haaland operation.
