The Express has just released a new special issue dedicated to “Cities that are redesigning France”. In its overview, the magazine has not forgotten Rodez (Aveyron). On the contrary, the city is mentioned on numerous occasions in its prize list.
L’Express titled its selection: « Find the city that suits you ». The magazine classified the municipalities in six categories : living environment / weather / security, ecology, economy, education / sport / health, digital and culture.
Several criteria
Several criteria were of course retained in each category. For example, for the first, the survey took into account the proximity of the coast or the mountain, the rainfall, the average temperature over thirty years, the rate of burglaries or assault and battery …

In the end Rodez shines in several areas.
Living environment / weather / security
Rodez is in third place in a top 10 entirely located in the south of France. Note that Mende (Lozère) is fourth, Auch (Gers) fifth, Cahors (Lot), sixth and Carcassonne (Aude) eighth. Occitania is therefore in force in this ranking led by Bastia and Ajaccio in Corsica. The magazine notes, for example, that there are only 2.7 intentional assaults and injuries per 1,000 inhabitants in Auch.
Ecology
Rodez is also present in the ecological field. In ninth position. Cahors leads the category and Mende is sixth. Again among the examples selected, the magazine notes that Cahors is the city where one is least bothered by road traffic noise.
Education / sport / health
Rodez is eighth. It is one of the cities that offers the greater number of sports clubs per inhabitant, notes the special issue. Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) is fourth.
Rodez is on the other hand absent at the top of the ranking in terms of economy (Toulouse is fifth), from digital (Toulouse ninth) and culture (Toulouse eighth), all three dominated by large agglomerations.
