Life has not been a long quiet river for Antoine Jung since he was vice-European champion in the LMP3 category in 2017, after a European Le Mans Series season he was competing in. at the time with M Racing, the structure managed by Yvan Muller.

After a few races in the European GT Championship, the Bas-Rhinois by birth suffered a first halt in early 2019 due to a fractured radius after a heavy fall on skis. After a period of rehabilitation, he returned to the 500 Nocturnes race at the Ring of the Rhine in September of the same year. But the Alsatian saw all his plans stopped dead by the pandemic and containment.

Antoine Jung was able to bounce back: he is currently managing the technical part of the AMG GTR Speedlegend project, a model derived from the AMG GTR, but inflated to 850 HP and equipped with a halo, a protective arch reminiscent of those of Formula 1.  » It’s an activity that keeps me busy, ”Jung explains. “It allows me to keep one foot in the field, to travel and to continue to meet the people of motorsport. «

 » To please yourself «

A discipline that he will find even closer this weekend in Portugal on the Portimao circuit. « It’s nice because it was in Portimao that I competed in my last race in LMP3 », recalls Jung. “I had other opportunities earlier this season, but it was hardly compatible with my professional activity. This was the right time. «

The Alsatian will lend a hand to Jacques Wolf on a Ligier JS P3 prototype entered by the Swiss team Spirit of Leman. Antoine Jung will approach this event without pressure: “There is still this excitement, but there is no longer the stress as at the time. The important thing will be to have fun and I know the results will go with it. The objective will be to benefit from this experience. Then we’ll see what the future holds… ”
