Auto – WEC – Sebring


The No. 7 Toyota, with Jose Maria Lopez at the wheel, was involved in a big accident during the 1000 Miles of Sebring on Friday, and retired. After a little more than 3h30 of racing on Friday at Sebring, the race was interrupted after the spectacular accident of Jose Maria Lopez aboard the Toyota n°7. A crash in two stages since the Argentinian first collided with the Porsche nº88 of Dempsey – Proton Racing, which sent him into the wall. He was able to get back on track but a few seconds later, his prototype, damaged by the first accident, crashed straight into the tire wall, bounced and flipped over on its roof. Lopez quickly got out of his car, with no bodily harm. But the race is over for the first of the GR010s.

In the standings, it was the other Japanese prototype, the n°8 (Brendon Hartley), which led the debates at the time of the interruption which lasted more than 30 minutes, ahead of the Alpine A480 (Andre Negrao), which is faster on the track but made one more save (4 against 3). Glickenhaus #708 (Ryan Briscoe) was third. In LMP2, Prema n°9 (Louis Delétraz) was in the lead. Sébastien Ogier’s (Richard Mille Racing) car was 13th in class. In GTE Pro, Corvette Racing’s Chevrolet Corvette (Tommy Milner) was ahead of the Porsche 911 and Ferrari 488.
