Australia vs India Cricket News D’Arcy Short replaces David Warner injury – Betanews.com

D’Arcy Short has been added to Australia’s men’s T20 squad, replacing David Warner who injured his groin during last night’s second ODI at SCG.

After a brilliant 77 balls 83 with the bat, Warner’s night ended early Sunday when he tried to field a pilot from Indian opener Mayank Agarwal.

Warner dove to his left and appeared to strain his right groin and immediately limped off the field into the hands of the coaches.

The star opener will be racing against the clock to get fit for the next round of testing with India, but in the meantime, Short has been called in to take the T20 opener.

Short is on hold and training with the team since his flight from Perth to NSW following the COVID-19 outbreak in Adelaide.

Coach Justin Langer said Warner will use this time to recuperate while Pat Cummins will have a short break before Adelaide’s day-night test.

“Pat and Davie are critical to our plans for the test series,” Langer said.

“Davie will be working during his injury rehab and in Pat’s case it is important that all of our players are well managed to keep them mentally and physically fit throughout what is a tough summer.

“The priority for both is to be fully prepared for one of the biggest and most important home test series we have played in recent years, especially with Test World Championship points up for grabs. . ”

It remains to be seen who will replace Warner for the final ODI on Wednesday.
