Austin FC defeated in debut MLS game

(Los Angeles) Austin FC, a new Texas franchise, missed its Major League Soccer (MLS) debut on Saturday, conceding a 2-0 loss at Los Angeles FC.

The goals were scored by American striker Corey Baird (61^e) and Ecuadorian midfielder José Cifuentes (90 + 1^er).

Austin, the 10^e team to join MLS since 2012, had more possession of the ball for 90 minutes, but shot half as much on goal than its opponent.

A few Texas fans were in attendance at Bank of California Stadium in Los Angeles, and others attended a celebration night in Austin to support the young club founded in 2018.
