Aurélien Ducroz « happy to arrive despite everything »
This Tuesday afternoon, Aurélien Ducroz and David Sineau crossed the finish line of the 15th edition of the Transat Jacques-Vabre, thus completing the 4,600 theoretical miles of the course in 22nd position in the Class40 category.
If the performance is not as expected, the Crosscall duo, faced with the loss of their spinnaker max off Portugal then that of their medium spinnaker in the Canaries, did not give up.
Despite a flagrant speed handicap without its two large headsails, the duo can be satisfied with the exceptional potential of the class40 Crosscall and its reliability only five months after its launch. This bodes well for the future, in particular for the Route du Rhum 2022, the next big goal for the Chamonix « skipper-skier ».
“When we line up at the start of a race, we necessarily start with competitor’s dreams and therefore ambitions for a result, but we forget the adventure of crossing the Atlantic. In the end, whether it’s David or me, we’re happy to arrive anyway. Happy to have gone to the end even if, of course, we are frustrated in a way, ”commented Aurélien Ducroz shortly after his arrival in Fort-de-France, after 23 days at sea.
