AT DAYTONA, VICTORY FOR DILLON IN NASCAR

After more than six hours of racing, Austin Dillon won the victory at Daytona but also and above all the last qualifying place for the playoffs. And this to the detriment of the unfortunate Martin Truex Jr, who pays the price!

It was certainly necessary to be patient this weekend to know the winner of the twenty-sixth and final race of the regular season in the NASCAR Cup Series before the play-offs

Because this last qualifying round was delayed by the onset of rain on Saturday evening, the race was postponed to Sunday…

But it was by no means over because the rain was back again on the Floridian oval on Sunday about twenty laps from the end, this time stopping the race for more than three hours!

And this while Austin Dillon, had just returned to the lap of the leading cars just before the neutralization, seizing control of the race in the most complete chaos.

When the race resumes on the restart, Austin Cindric doubles on Austin Dillon

Which declared after his victory:.

My wife was doing the rain dance, I told her not to. We stayed focused. My teammate Tyler Reddick did an amazing job. I knew I had good Chevrolet teammates behind me. That’s crazy. You must never give up. Today we finished the work and we have an appointment on Victory Lane.

Because finally under the checkered it is indeed Austin Dillon who snatches an unexpected victory, which icing on the cake, allows him to qualify for the playoffs and this for the fifth time in his career.

On the finish line, the Childress driver is ahead of his teammate Tyler Reddick and the winner of the DAYTONA 500, the championship opening round, the ´rookie Austin Cindric who finished third ahead of Landon Cassill and Noah Gragson.

Cody Ware, BJ McLeod, Martin Truex Jr, David Ragan and Kyle Busch, rounding out the Top 10.

By finishing fifteenth in six rounds, Ryan Blaney clinched his place for the playoffs in extremis and this … for three points at the expense of Martin Truex Jr!
