ASSE is not paid in Ligue 1

The latest weekly newsletter from the Football Observatory (CIES), calculates the points achieved with the expected points, according to a statistical model including possession of the ball and the number and distance of shots attempted and conceded.

At the scale of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain is as always the benchmark with a positive difference of 0.77 points (2.42 points achieved out of 1.65 expected point).

Montpellier (+0.45) and FC Nantes (+0.36) complete this atypical podium. Saint-Étienne occupies the same place as in the general classification of Ligue 1. The Forez club is 20th with a negative difference (-0.48). According to the calculations made, ASSE should have taken 1.11 points. In fact, the players with the star jersey got 0.63. Stade Rennais with a negative balance of 0.36 like Clermont Foot complete the bottom of the table.
