As boxer Lovlina Borgohain makes her runway debut, we take a look at the athletes who have walked the ramp in style.

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani once said, « Sport will always be important in global culture, and therefore fashion, as a reflection of cultural trends, will always incorporate influences from sport. » One common factor connects these two worlds – sport and fashion – and that is entertainment. Whether on or off the pitch, such as tennis star Sania Mirza, outfielder Saina Nehwal, hockey player Udita Duhan or cricketer Hardik Pandya, each of them has won hearts. And to join them on this elegant journey, none other than boxing ace and Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain. Lovlina recently did the showstopper for fashion design duo Bidyut and Rakesh at the Northeast Festival in Guwahati.

Draped in a traditional mulberry silk sari, Lovlina looked dazzling as she walked gracefully down the banister. She took to Instagram to share her experience and wrote, I was absolutely overwhelmed and thrilled to be the Show Stopper of the Northeast Festival held in Guwahati. It was a great pleasure to wear @bidyut_rakesh’s bridal collection and share the ramp with her. I loved the traditional Mulberry Silk Paat saree. Sincere thanks to @shyammahanta Sir for the invite. I was truly humbled by everyone’s immense love. It was a great pleasure to see @_adilhussain and @Zubinji at the event.(sic)”
