Arsenal ‘preparing’ Serie A double deal to give Arteta some firepower

Mikel Arteta « expects new faces » to arrive in January, and a report has lifted the veil on a potential Juventus double raid that would include Dejan Kulusevski.

The common consensus is that Arteta is gradually getting Arsenal back on track. However, recent results and issues off the field have indicated there will be bumps and bruises along the way.

Indeed, the Gunners had lost three of four in their clash with Southampton on Saturday.

The news of a Disciplinary breach of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deprived Arsenal of their main center-forward for the draw. Nonetheless, a dominant 3-0 victory ensured the striker did not miss out.

However, speculation swirls about Aubameyang’s status at the club. The Mirror shed light on a player who could take the captain’s armband if Aubameyang is stripped. His sharp drop in form could also see the Gunners exploring a surprise sale.

Alexandre Lacaztte and Eddie Nketiah are expected to leave when their contracts expire next summer. This will leave Arteta running out of firepower, although it can be fixed in January.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Tódófíchájés, which suggests a double deal is underway. In their words, Arsenal are ready to « prepare a double signing » from the old lady.

They report that Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski could change clubs with Juventus on board with a move.

A first loan agreement is proposed for a permanent move this summer. This type of deal echoes a previous Goal report which said the option would be set at around € 35million.

La Repubblica claimed last week that the Arsenal chief Edu was due to arrive in Turin this week to open the Kulusevsky negotiations.

Kulusevski will be joined by Ramsey?

According to Tódófíchájés, ex-gunner Aaron Ramsey could also be targeted.

Ramsey is believed to be open to a return to the Emirates where he had his greatest success. Since arriving at Juventus in 2019, the Welshman’s career has stalled.

Ramsey has made a name for himself in North London as a chic scoring midfielder. He could compete with Martin Odegaard in the No.10 position, or could operate further in a box-to-box role. Either way, his experience would be invaluable to Arteta’s young team.

Another loan with option to buy is offered and Juve would find the discharge of the two stars « extremely satisfying ». A sum of 40 to 45 million euros is indicated as being necessary to conclude the two agreements via their options in the summer. This would suggest that Ramsey will cost € 5-10million.

Newcastle and Everton are also believed to be among those chasing Ramsey in January.

Arsenal invited to seize a « real leader »

Meanwhile, Arsenal were urged to do everything in their power to secure Georginio Wijnaldum’s signing in January as he would prove to be a ‘real leader’ and a real difference maker.

The transfer of the former Liverpool favorite to PSG did not go as planned with reduced playing time. Indeed, our exclusivity highlighted the possibility of a return of Wijnaldum to the Premier League.

Now speaking to Football Insider, Danny Mills believes Wijnaldum can make a difference for their midfielder.

“If you could have him it would be a fantastic signing,” Mills said.
