But in the end, here he is in New York on the sidelines of this big fire sale in Chicago. With Javier Baez (Mets), Craig Kimbrel (White Sox) and Kris Bryant (Giants) all gone, it’s the end of an era for the Cubs.
But for the principal concerned, it is also the beginning of something exciting.
He has family nearby and he craves victory, which makes his arrival in the Bronx quite interesting.
Rizzo wants to focus on the positive and not on the sadness he feels about playing for the Chicago Cubs anymore.
After all, it’s a pretty exciting stint awaiting him in New York and he intends to make the most of it.
The chance to play for another historic franchise is interesting for him.
Seeing the Yankees get their hands on a player of his caliber and left-handed hitter Joey Gallo makes him look excited.
Do we know what the future holds for him? Absolutely not. He could become a free agent in a few months.
But by then, he just wants to win.
