After a short stay with the New York Yankees, outfielder Andrew Benintendi assures that he is happy to land in Chicago, where he feels desired by the formation.
A few weeks after signing a five-year contract with the White Sox, the outfielder was presented to the press on Wednesday.
« It’s nice to be part of an organization where you feel desired, where you are needed, » said Benintendi from the outset.
With this declaration, Benintendi seemed to send an arrow to his former organization. He only spent time with the Bronx Bombers, playing 33 games.
Recall that the recipient of the Dick Howser trophy in 2015, awarded annually to the best college or university baseball player in the United States, was acquired by New York on July 27 against three minor league pitchers.
Despite more conservative statistics during his New York stint, Brian Cashman assures that he would have liked to bring Benintendi back. The White Sox offer will have surpassed Cashman’s left-handed aspirations, however, which seems like good news for the 28-year-old.
I plan to adapt quickly. Getting to know my teammates and building lasting relationships. Since day 1 of the offseason, there was communication between the administration of Chicago and our clan.
It’s nice to know that the interest was present from the beginning.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are still looking for their left fielder for the upcoming campaign.
