An electric motorcycle with cabin in preparation
Lightning Motorcycles officially evokes the Blade
The Californian manufacturer multiplies the projects after
American manufacturer of electric motorcycles, Lightning forged its reputation on speed records and in competition before launching a first high-performance sports car in the middle of the last decade with the LS-218. In 2019, the Californian brand had great ambitions with its sporty Strike, which was much more affordable and intended for mass production.
While we were able to test the prototype and then the pre-series model of the Strike, the manufacturer was very discreet until the beginning of the year and the announcement of a new project to attempt the world speed record. based on the nobium of the Brazilian firm CBMM. For this, the LS-218 was notably equipped with a streamliner fairing to enable it to reach 250 mph (402.3 km/h).
But Lightning Motorcycles has not given up on its mass production projects, the American brand plans not only to market a small urban motorcycle, still electric, called Spark, but also to launch into two-wheelers with its Blade .
The project for a two-wheeler with cockpit combining the practicality of a motorcycle with the comfort of a car emerged two years ago with the publication of a technical drawing in China then with a video presenting a rolling prototype and functional.
After trademarking the Streetliner and AeroBlade names for commercial use of this model, Lightning Motorcycles now clearly refers to its two-wheeled electric vehicle as the Blade in its presentation.
And while the productions are still made in small series in the United States, Lighning also evokes its rapprochement with Indian industrialists to be able to move up a gear. Lightning seems to have reconnected the plug and it would be good because we are waiting for the actual arrival of the models in Europe with a distribution network.
