an astronomical amount claimed Cardiff for Emiliano Sala? the Welsh are stepping up!
The tragic disappearance ofEmiliano Sala unfortunately continues to make talk. The Argentinian striker was killed in a plane crash in January 2019 while trying to join Cardiff, his new team with which he had signed up until June 2022 during the winter transfer window.
According to The Sun, Cardiff holds FC Nantes responsible to have precipitated their descent into the Championship (English D2) after the abortive transfer of the Argentine player. In question, the agent Willie McKay allegedly acted on behalf of the Nantes club in connection with the tragic theft. The Welsh believe that his death influenced their relegation during the 2018/2019 season, resulting in significant losses in terms of TV rights, partners and advertising. And for good reason, the Bluebirds would claim nearly 95 million euros compensation!
Since their descent into the English second division, Cardiff have never recovered and have not had the opportunity to return to the Premier League. The club is currently in 19th place in the Championship and will still play in this championship next season.
