All American’s fourth season is currently at its mid-point, which is just as good considering how much drama we currently have to deal with.
Inspired by real-life professional American football player Spencer Paysinger, All American follows Spencer James, a high school student from Compton, who is recruited to play football for Beverly High in Beverly Hills.
The CW’s teenage sports drama has been so successful that a spin-off, All American: Homecoming is also slated for release next year.
But what exactly is going on with the main series and when can we expect to see it again on our screens?
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming episodes.
All American season 4 release date: when will it air?
All American is currently on a mid-season hiatus, with the series ending in 2021 with the seventh episode of Season 4, Prom Night. This may interest you: Halo Infinite: the Halo and Forge co-op campaign release date postponed.
It will be back on our screens on Monday, February 21, and will continue to air weekly thereafter.
The last time we saw Spencer, he was planning a drama-free trip to prom with Olivia – though obviously that’s easier said than done.
The Crenshaw football team, as a “leaving gift,” steals the State Championship trophy from Beverly. Rather than seeing his pals get in trouble, Spencer decides to reunite the gang and return it as a goodwill gesture.
Unfortunately, that also means you have to break into Beverly again. There, he realizes that their plot to steal the trophy, by triggering the school’s sprinkler system, is the direct cause of the Beverly Ball being canceled.
Rather than seeing his friends get in trouble when they get caught, Spencer ends up wearing the hat and refuses to give their names.
The cast of season 4 of All American: Who’s in it?
British actor Daniel Ezra heads the cast as Spencer James, the rising star of South Los Angeles football, who is well-meaning but often gets into trouble to protect others. See the article: Arcade1Up announces the release of the Terminator 2: Judgment Day boxed set..
He is joined by Samantha Logan as Olivia Baker, Bre-Z as Tamia « Coop » Cooper, Greta Onieogou as Layla Keating, Michael Evans Behling as Jordan Baker and Cody Christian as Asher. Adams.
Karimah Westbrook (Grace James), Monét Mazur (Laura Fine-Baker), Taye Diggs (Billy Baker), Jalyn Hall (Dillon James) and Chelsea Tavares (Patience) complete the cast.
The All American season 4 plot: What’s going to happen?
With graduation getting closer by the day, the second half of Season 4 will follow Spencer in his attempt to finish high school relatively unscathed. Also read: PS Now December 2021: Free games and PlayStation Plus release date.
But after his involvement in the theft of trophies and his refusal to report the other players, it is not going to be easy.
In real life, Spencer Paysinger – whose main character is inspired by – continued to play college football in Oregon. It is likely that, whatever happens, we will be heading towards this next important step.
Series director Nkechi Okoro Carroll can also be expected to continue covering other real-life issues, such as the Black Lives Matter movement, which was the subject of a special episode in the third season.
“You hope what you do makes a difference, and my goal for this episode was to hope that it leads people to understand the pain and that we’re at the point where enough is enough,” Okoro Carroll told the ‘era (via Entertainment Weekly).
» But I do not know. It feels like nothing seems to make the difference sometimes. I try not to be put off by this and try to put the authentic truth of it into the show, because we pride ourselves on these characters authentically portraying what it’s like to be young, and specifically young black, in America today. And we hope that will make the difference. «
Hopefully, if the topic is brought up again in season four, it won’t have the same ominous timing.
« I never thought, even in a million years, that this episode would air a few days after another young black teenager was murdered at the hands of a cop, » Okoro Carroll continued.
“I never imagined it would be released right after Derek Chauvin’s trial. I didn’t think it would air right after the murder of Adam Toledo. It will feel like we wrote it last week, and it breaks my heart because it means we haven’t taken the step forward that I hoped. «
