Alexis Lafrenière is not superstitious

Finished the number 11 which made the opposing goaltenders tremble in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Alexis Lafrenière has made his choice for the one he will have embroidered on his brand new New York Rangers jersey.

A sign that the Quebec striker is not too superstitious, he will sport the number 13 – the one he wore at the time on the baseball fields in the Laurentians.

Since his selection in first place in the last draft on Tuesday, it had become clear that the 19-year-old Eustachian was going to have an important choice to make. The number 11, which he wore throughout his junior career, was hoisted to the heights of Madison Square Garden in 2006 in honor of legendary forward Mark Messier.

According to the Hockey Reference site, Lafrenière will become the ninth player in Rangers history to wear the number 13. The last was the striker. Kevin hayes, who left the organization in a transaction in February 2019.

In addition, the young man opened a Twitter account for the occasion. You can follow it here.
